SARA ÁLVAREZ

Founder + Design Principal

Raised in South Florida and deeply influenced by her Colombian heritage, Sara Alvarez developed an appreciation for design, culture, and craftsmanship from an early age. At nineteen, she moved to New York City to pursue her passion, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design. While completing her studies, she was recognized as one of Metropolis Magazine's Future100, an annual distinction honoring North America's most promising emerging designers.

Sara began her career in New York, gaining experience through internships with IMG NYC and Saint Laurent before joining ODA Architecture. There, she contributed to an array of acclaimed commercial, hospitality, and residential projects, including the Four Seasons and Kimpton hotels, luxury penthouses, and large scale multifamily developments. She later returned to South Florida to join HW Interiors, where she specialized in bespoke luxury residences throughout Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, and Wellington. During this time, she refined her signature approach to timeless, detail driven design.

Driven by a desire to create spaces that feel both deeply personal and enduring, Sara founded Studio Alvarez Interiors. Under her leadership, the studio has become known for its refined aesthetic that balances sculptural form, natural materials, warmth, and livability while celebrating the individuality of each client. Her work has recently been honored with two prestigious 2026 LUXE RED Awards, earning both the Readers' Choice Award and Regional Winner in the Restoration/Renovation category.

An avid traveler, Sara continually draws inspiration from architecture, art, and craftsmanship around the world. These experiences inform a layered design philosophy rooted in storytelling, where each project unfolds through thoughtful composition, rich materiality, and meaningful detail. The result is interiors that are elegant yet approachable, creating spaces that feel collected over time and authentically reflective of the people who call them home.
