SARA ÁLVAREZ
Founder + Design Principal
Sara grew up in South Florida, shaped by the vibrant cultural influence of her Colombian heritage. Drawn to design from an early age, she moved to New York City at nineteen to pursue her passion, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design. During her studies, she was recognized as one of Metropolis Magazine’s Future 100, highlighting the top design graduates across North America.
Early in her career, Sara gained experience through internships with IMG NYC and Saint Laurent before joining ODA Architecture, where she worked on high-profile commercial and hospitality projects including the Four Seasons and Kimpton hotels, as well as luxury residential penthouses and large-scale multifamily developments. She later joined HW Interiors, focusing on luxury residential homes throughout West Palm Beach and Wellington, where she refined her approach to thoughtful, detail-driven design.
After several years immersed in diverse design environments, Sara took a leap of faith and founded her own studio. Today, she leads Studio Alvarez Interiors, creating spaces that balance sculptural form, warmth, and livability.
A passionate traveler, Sara draws constant inspiration from the places she visits, weaving subtle cultural references and layered materiality into her work. Her approach to design is rooted in storytelling: each project begins with a concept and evolves into a cohesive environment that feels deeply personal to the people who live in it.
